History

Starting Up
Roy Broad & Sons was founded in 1964 by Roy Broad himself with the help of his sons who joined the family run business in 1982.
To start the business, Roy spent his evenings making mackerel fishing lines which gave Roy the funds to buy his first tipper which would later build into the iconic red fleet you see on the roads around Cornwall today.

A Growing Fleet
As the business grew, so did the fleet. The fleet consisted of tippers for both aggregates and tarmac as well as a large number of bulk animal feed lorries supplying cake for cattle all over Cornwall.

Over the years there has also been some unusual requests for us to carry ice for fish markets, apples for brewers and much more!

Past and Present
The business started with a fleet of Bedford trucks supplied by Wincanton garage at Helston.
Moving to ERF, Volvo and Daf. In 2003 we made the move to Scania and at present have a Scania only fleet.
